There is a slight risk of fraudsters targeting beneficiaries due to the wide variety of options available for collecting social grants. In order to prevent this, Sassa has introduced a mobile feature that will allow beneficiaries to dispute unallowed deductions from their grants.
Finally Unauthorised Deductions Stop On Your Sassa Grant
Millions of South Africans rely on social grants for their basic needs. In some cases, grant recipients have been exposed to scams that result in deductions from their grant payments, leaving them with less money to cover expenses. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has introduced a new process to help people dispute unauthorised deductions from social grants.
Automated systems make the process quick and easy, according to the agency. In order to dispute an unauthorised deduction, grant recipients should send an SMS to Q-link on 34548 with the following information:
- Topic: Dispute
- ID Number
- Name and surname (as they appear on the ID)
- FSP Name: The company you are lodging a dispute against
- Duration of the policy: How long has the policy been deducting
- Reason for dispute: I never had a contract/misrepresentation
Sassa will automatically investigate the dispute once the SMS has been sent. In the event that the deduction is found to be unauthorised, Sassa will refund the grant recipient the money.Sassa encourages all grant recipients to take advantage of this process if they believe their social grants have been unauthorized deducted. In this way, they can ensure that they receive the full grant amount and have the necessary funds to meet their basic needs.
Grant recipients will be able to protect themselves from financial exploitation through this new process, lessening the burden of scammers.
