How To Cancel Your NSFAS Application

The 2023 academic year is just around the corner, so those who had previously applied for funding for tertiary education through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) may have changed their minds.

How To Cancel Your NSFAS Application

It is possible for an applicant to withdraw their application for a variety of reasons; they may have secured funding elsewhere, no longer need funding, or simply have decided to part ways with NSFAS.

For whatever reason, if you are looking to cancel your online application to Nsfas, here are the steps do so:

  • Login into your myNsfas account on Nsfas’ website.
  • On the Nsfas dashboard, scroll down and select “View Applications” under Application Tracker.
  • Select Track Application.
  • Select Cancel Application

In 2023, the NSFAS funding application window will close on 31 January.

Applications have been open since last year, on 28 September 2022. Applications for funding can be submitted through the NSFAS portal, myNsfas.

You must meet the following criteria in order to be deemed eligible to receive funding from NSFAS.

  • Be a South African citizen
  • All Sassa grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Your household must have a combined household income of not more than R350 000 per annum.
  • People with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
