Many vulnerable people rely on monthly social grants to purchase basic goods and services. Beneficiaries may receive their grants at different times depending on several factors.
How To Get Your Sassa Grant In Your Bank Account
Every month, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes social grants to more than 18 million beneficiaries. They distribute Older Persons grants, War Veterans grants, Disability grants, Foster Child grants, Care Dependency grants, Child Support Grants, Top-up Child Support grants, and Grants in Aid.
Beneficiaries are able to access their money through several payment options. They may, however, have to wait until a specific day to collect their money, or they may be able to access their grant at any time, depending on the payment option they choose.
Currently, four payment methods are being used by grant beneficiaries.
Grants can be paid directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. They can access their money 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with this payment option. As a result of the flexibility this provides beneficiaries, many are choosing to change their payment method.
If I want to change my gold card to my bank account what is needed?
A form can be obtained from your nearest Sassa office, taken to your preferred bank for stamping, and then returned to Sassa with your bank statement or proof of an active account.
Payment options for other grants
Retail outlets have partnered with Sassa to distribute social grants. Beneficiaries may withdraw their money whenever the retail outlet is open. Social grants are distributed by Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer stores, Usave stores, and Checkers.
Post office branches around the country also offer beneficiaries the opportunity to collect their grants. Grants can only be collected during predetermined time frames and on official payment dates.
Grant recipients can also collect their money at mobile cash pay points. During a grant payment cycle, beneficiaries will only be able to collect their grant payments for a few hours. This is not a flexible payment option.
