NSFAS Applications 2024: NSFAS Fund Closing Soon. The looming deadline for NSFAS applications 2024 on January 31 intensifies the urgency for prospective applicants to complete the process before the portal closes.
Impressive Application Numbers for 2024
As of last week, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) reported an impressive 1,545,822 applications for the upcoming 2024 academic year, with expectations of additional submissions before the application cycle concludes at the end of January.
Minister Nzimande’s Assurance and SASSA Provisional Funding
Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, addressed the media, providing reassurance about the Department’s readiness for the 2024 PSET academic year opening. He announced that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has provisionally funded 657,703 applicants through NSFAS.
Crucial Consent for NSFAS Applicants
Minister Nzimande emphasized the critical need for all NSFAS applicants to submit a consent form. This form plays a vital role in verifying information from third parties and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
“The information is required to verify the employment status and income level of the parents, guardians, or spouses of the applicant. It is mandatory for applicants to download and upload a completed Consent form on the NSFAS website, portal, or mobile app.
“The SARS (South African Revenue Service) Consent Form requirements affect students in the application data category. These students should await communication from NSFAS through SMS and email, providing instructions on how to upload the form.”
Over 1.5 Million Applications Surge
Last week’s report highlighted the substantial number of applications received, standing at an impressive 1,545,822. It underscores the significance of timely submissions as the deadline approaches.
The South African Social Security Agency’s provisional funding supports 657,703 NSFAS applicants, further enhancing the 2024 academic year application process.
Students in the application data category should anticipate further communication from NSFAS. This will provide guidance on uploading the required SARS Consent Form.
