NSFAS will announce the outcome of your appeal if your NSFAS application was unsuccessful and you appealed it. South African students studying at public universities and colleges can apply for financial aid through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
When Will NSFAS Appeal Outcomes Will Be Released
NSFAS rejected more than 300 000 funding applications at the beginning of 2023, and students were encouraged to file appeals within 30 days. Some unsuccessful students failed to meet the funding requirements while others did not submit certain documents to finalize their application.
Due to the large number of appeals received, NSFAS initially stated that funding decisions would be finalised by 6 February 2023, but the bursary scheme experienced a backlog, leaving students unsure of whether they would be funded. After their registration was finalized, some students were rejected and their funding was reviewed.
Students will receive communication regarding NSFAS appeals by next week as the Independent Appeals Tribunal works through the appeals. A fake NSFAS Appeals notice has been circulating among students. From May, students can check their appeal statuses if they are waiting for appeal confirmation.
For the correct information and updates regarding appeals, students should only use the official NSFAS website and NSFAS social media pages.
